Pavilion KL wins prestigious FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Award 2009 in the Retail Category
LIFESTYLE destination Pavilion Kuala Lumpur has been awarded the prestigious FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Award 2009 in the Retail Category, outclassing 26 other entries worldwide.
The lifestyle destination hosted a grand celebration on Friday to formally receive the award from FIABCI world president Lisa Kurrass.
The ceremony was officiated by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Shah, who was accompanied by Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Ahmad Fuad Ismail.
The illustrious award was received by Pavilion Malaysia deputy chairman Datin Cindy Lim, who was accompanied by Urusharta Cemerlang Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Zainol Mahmood and Omer Abdulaziz Al Hamed from Qatar Investment Authority, which has a 49% stake in the project.
“Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is now officially recognised as a world-class retail project. In the bigger picture, this award is also a recognition of sorts for Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia.
The retail centre had won the ‘Retail Development’ – FIABCI Malaysia Property Awards 2008, which qualified it to enter the world-level FIABCI Prix d’Excellence.
The prestigious award recognises the project that excels in the areas of architecture and design, development and construction, community benefits and environmental impact, and financial and marketing.
Pavilion KL is the first retail centre to feature sleek and ultra-modern street front duplex stores, home to flagship stores of international designer brands.
Furthermore, in another first for Malaysia, Pavilion KL possesses six themed precincts.
The shopping centre is currently operating at 100% occupancy with a total of 450 tenants across 127,774 sq m nett retail space and is in the midst of creating more leasing space.
New stores scheduled to open in the shopping centre in the coming months include international brands like TUMI, Van Laack Swarovski, and Austin Chase Coffee.
